When to Visit Niagara Falls:
The town offers all four seasons and although the waterfalls are beautiful to look at in the winter the temperature will be frigid to endure, especially near the falls so make sure you bundle up! The average temperatures range from 14° - 28° during the winter, making the best time to visit Niagara Falls in the summertime between June to August. The summer weather stays in the 80°’s all season long. This is when the crowds will arrive too, so planning your trip towards the beginning or end of summer is the best combination!
Lodging:
One of our best bed and breakfast experiences to date was at The Butler House Bed and Breakfast in Niagara Falls. The sweetest couple, Dan and Jamie bought this bed and breakfast back in 2019. Dan grew up nearby in Youngstown and after serving in the US Navy as a submarine officer, then at Micron Technology as a Marketing Director in California he returned home to run this one of a kind bed and breakfast. Jamie was a talented jazz singer and pianist in Taiwan who transitioned her life to the US when they got married, (they recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary)! They welcome you with open arms, and a form of hospitality that feels like coming home for Christmas. They will go from host to family during the duration of your stay. It is genuinely important to them that they make you feel so welcome and ensure your trip is fantastic! The home itself displayed beautiful details which created a cozy and unique ambiance. I personally want a front porch like this one day!
Our bedroom was so cozy and romantic!
Although Hunter and I are not morning people, waking up to the smell of these delicious breakfasts lured us out of bed early! Eating with other guests also allows for making new friendships and hearing their recommendations for sightseeing or restaurants in the area!
Visiting Niagara Falls:
We have been frequently asked what is the best view of Niagara Falls?
To answer this bluntly, the Canadian side is the best view of Niagara Falls, hands down! Geographically, the New York side actually has the falls, where as the Canadian side looks directly at them, hosting the best view. Check out the difference below! We had scheduled an entire day to just explore around the Falls, and after strolling down the walking path on the New York side, we approached the Rainbow bridge and crossed to the Canadian Side. The Canadian side has many more restaurants and shops nearby which allows you to make a day of it! Other than exploring the surrounding shops and restaurants you can also;
Take a 20 minute boat ride down into the falls for $33 pp
Zip line over the falls for $70 pp!
Additionally, fireworks go off every night for 5 minutes at 10:00PM!
Dining Recommendations:
Hunter and I are huge fans of sushi, and The Steak Stone and Sushi did not disappoint. We recommend trying the Dynamite Roll and the Tiger Roll!
2. Spot Coffee
This international cafe and coffee shop is headquartered in Buffalo, just outside of Niagara Falls, and so they are quite frequent throughout the area. They are all cute and trendy, with a speakeasy vibe about them.
This cafe is actually inside a culinary school and they display the most incredibly detailed and unique cakes from the seniors final project!
A location that is commonly referred to as the 7th Wonder of the World, Niagara Falls will captivate every traveler who is lucky enough to see them.
